BOTOX
What Is Botox?
Botox (botulinum toxinA) is an injected medication called a neuromodulator that is FDA-approved to temporarily and safely improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles in the forehead, around the eyes, and in the lines between the eyebrows in people over 18 years of age. We commonly use these injectables off-label to improve other areas of the face, treat hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating), and migraines.
At Reve Medical Aesthetics, we offer several injectable options to achieve this result including Botox®, Dysport®, and Jeuveau®. We believe that individual needs vary, so we offer a customized approach and recommend treatment plans that will enhance your unique look.
-
Botox® and Dysport® costs $13 per unit and Jeuveau® costs $11 per unit. The average adult receiving these injections will need between 60 and 70 units to treat the upper face. However, please be aware that individual dosing and treatment recommendations can significantly increase or decrease the number of units needed to achieve your goals.
-
Since these injections are for temporary muscle paralysis, we recommend quarterly injections (every 3-4 months).
-
There is no downtime for these injectables. It is common that our patients receive their botox injections during their lunch breaks. However, it is important to understand that there is a risk for bruising with these treatments.
-
For the next 24 hours, we recommend no laying down, intense workouts, or placing pressure on the treated area.
-
Males and females between the ages of 18 and 65+. To receive injections, you must be in generally good health. Women who are pregnant or nursing will not be injected.
Will Botox get rid of wrinkles?
Botox is a safe and highly effective way to treat wrinkles. It works by temporarily and safely targeting and paralyzing the muscles in the face that are responsible for causing lines and wrinkles that are visible when the face is at rest. By minimizing the movement of the muscles of the face, it reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Over time, you will see continued improvements in lines and wrinkles by working with our highly qualified cosmetic injectors.
Which Neuromodulator Should I Choose?
Neuromodulators like Botox®, Dysport®, and Jeuveau® contain the same active ingredient, which is botulinum toxin A. They are all designed to treat the same types of wrinkles. So what is the difference? The most important distinction between these brands lies in how much muscular movement is found post-injection, how much it spreads, and how quickly we see the effects. All of the medications that are used at Reve Medical Aesthetics are FDA approved, purchased directly from the manufacturer, and have been safely used for years. During your consultation, our providers will make sure that you understand which product will best fit your needs based on your anatomy.
Is Botox for men?
We commonly treat men with Botox for the exact same reason that we treat women- men also want to minimize wrinkles, fostering a more youthful appearance. Men generally require a larger dose than women based on their anatomical structure and muscular strength. However, we know for a fact that women are not the only ones who desire to improve their appearance as they age.
What can Botox do for my skin?
While the FDA-approved areas for injecting Botox are in the upper face, we commonly use “off-label” injection points that treat other things like hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating in the armpits, hands, and feet), “cobblestone chin", the bunny lines on the front of the nose, lifting the corners of the mouth, lifting the eyebrows, treating migraines, TMJ, or grinding and clenching of the teeth.
