What is Lumecca® IPL?

Lumecca IPL is an advanced form of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy. It is a non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment that uses high-powered, broad-spectrum light pulses to target and improve various skin concerns through a process called photothermolysis. The intense pulsed light penetrates the skin and is selectively absorbed by chromophores — primarily melanin (pigment) and hemoglobin (in blood vessels). This light energy converts into heat, which breaks down unwanted pigmentation (such as age spots, sun damage, freckles, and hyperpigmentation) and coagulates small visible blood vessels (including those associated with rosacea, spider veins, and redness). The body then naturally clears the damaged pigment and vessels while stimulating collagen production, leading to improved skin tone, texture, and clarity.

Lumecca is particularly popular at Reve Medical Aesthetics and in areas with sunny climates like Arizona because it effectively addresses photo-damaged skin, sunspots, vascular lesions, and uneven complexion with minimal downtime.

  • Lumecca® IPL treatments start as low as just $100 for spot treatments and progress upward in price depending on the number of treatment areas.. We also have packages available for additional savings!

  • Results can last 6–12 months or longer with good skincare and sun protection. Because Sierra Vista gets intense sun year-round, we recommend maintenance treatments once or twice a year and daily broad-spectrum sunscreen to keep your skin looking its best.

  • Downtime is minimal. You may experience mild redness (like a light sunburn) for a few minutes, up to 24 hours. Dark spots may temporarily darken and flake off over 5–7 days, revealing clearer skin underneath. Since this is a non-invasive procedure, patient can apply makeup immediately following treatment and can generally resume normal activities immediately!

  • After treatment, use gentle skincare, avoid harsh products, and wear sunscreen daily. We’ll give you detailed instructions to ensure the best outcome.

  • You’re likely a great candidate if you have sun damage, redness, or uneven tone and want clearer, younger-looking skin with minimal downtime. Please note that patients with darker pigmented skin may not be good candidates for this treatment as it has been shown to lead to hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation with darker skin types. For questions about this, schedule your consultation and our providers would be happy to help you determine the best treatment plan!

What Skin Concerns Does IPL Treat?

Lumecca is ideal for common Arizona skin issues: sun damage, brown spots, redness/rosacea, broken capillaries, uneven skin tone, freckles, and mild fine lines. It’s especially effective for desert sun exposure and is safe for most skin types with the exception of darker pigmented patients when performed by experienced providers. At Reve Medical Aesthetics, we ask that if you have a darker complexion, you schedule a consultation prior to your treatment to ensure that we will be able to provide this treatment to you!

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

Most patients achieve excellent results with just 1–3 sessions spaced 3–4 weeks apart for pigmented lesions and 4-6 sessions spaced 3-4 weeks apart with vascular lesions. Many people in Sierra Vista notice significant clearing of sun spots and brighter skin after even the very first treatment! At Reve Medical Aesthetics, we provide you with a treatment that is both safe and effective.

Does Lumecca® IPL Treatment Hurt?

The treatment feels like a little pop of mild heat, with occasional light “snap” feeling. The pain level should be around 3-4 on a pain scale for optimal results. Our patients find that the most uncomfortable part of the procedure is light sensitivity as it uses powerful light to achieve your results. However, Lumecca® IPL is much more comfortable than outdated models, and our patients tolerate it very well.

When Will I See My Results?

You can see initial improvements within a few hours to days. Immediately following your treatments, pigmented and vascular lesions may appear darker, but our patients generally experience a “glowing” effect within the first 7-10 days following their treatment. Pigmented spots will generally come to the surface and flake off, giving the appearance of coffee grounds coming out of the treated areas. Full results continue to develop over 1-2 weeks as your skin heals and new collagen forms.

How Long do Lumecca® IPL Results Last?

Results from your Lumecca® IPL treatments can last between 6-12 months or longer with exceptional skin care and sun protection. Because Southern Arizona gets intense sun year-round, we recommend maintenance treatments 1-2 times per year in combination with daily zinc-based sunscreen. This combination leaves our patients feeling refreshed year-round!

  • Just had an amazing experience at Reve! I’ve been wanting to try Botox for a stubborn wrinkle between my brows, and Bekah was incredible. She was professional, gentle, and truly gifted. She had me injected in seconds and I barely felt a thing. I also got IPL for my rosacea and noticed a difference right away. My skin tone looked more even, and even the texture felt silky smooth. Highly recommend this med spa if you’re looking for a welcoming space, talented injectors, and real results!

  • After my free consultation, Bekah walked me through what she recommended. She broke down the 3 types of toxins available, price per unit, efficacy, and the longevity of each. She provided me with an estimated price, and I booked immediately.
